WINEDUCATION – A Wine Blog from Australia

LEARNING ABOUT WINE. TASTING WINES. ENJOYING WINES. Simply

Welcome to Wineducation

With over a decade in the wine industry in sales, marketing, vineyards and winemaking, and many more years as a verified ‘wine nerd’, I set up this site as my own FAQ and log to help me keep track of my learnings.

As I went deeper into working in the industry, it became clear that these notes are also a great reference for others who are wanting to learn more, how things really are, and not just from the same repetitive wine books and texts.

These are mostly stories and review styles that I had hoped to find, that weren’t in the standard books and not common knowledge for those outside of the industry.

I am Mitch, the Wineducation author.

It is easy to get bitten by the wine bug. Wine is not just a drink. It is part of being alive.

It has accompanied the rise of society, sometimes been the measure for it, been a staple food, a basis of agriculture, an art form, a market of beautiful places, a commodity, a luxury product and so much more.

A simple drink of decaying grapes has had a huge impact on what it means to be a human.

Unlike any other drink, alcoholic or not, wine can take you into discussions of history, geology, geography, chemistry, anthropology, sociology, physics, agriculture, biology, engineering, languages and art. There is something for everyone.

As such, there is a lot written about it, but not all of it to the point, or interesting, or easily deciphered. Or accessible.

That is where my Wineducation blog hopes to fill a gap, in simple language.

I hope you find some questions answered, and also find some inspiration to start finding your own way down the rabbit hole of wine education.
